Turkey day is around the corner and I bet you have already started preparing for the “best meal of the year”, but is your waistline prepared? Want to know a statistic that will blow your brain?

- the average person consumes over 2000 calories at a T-bird dinner! (that is about a days worth of calories….IN ONE MEAL!)

Listen, I want you to enjoy the day and festive food without feeling sick or guilt-ridden by the end of it.

You know that feeling?

Pant button undone, sprawled out on the couch(for my family it’s the floor), heartburn, and the feeling that you really might implode!!!???!!!!?? UGH!

Here are some tips to get you through Thanksgiving day without a pound gained or an ounce of shame!

1. Do not starve yourself. SO many people do this… they skip breakfast or lunch, and “save” all their calories for the big meal. This is sure disaster. You will end up eating WAY FASTER AND WAY MORE. Just make a conscious effort to eat a little less than usual leading up to the meal.

2. We should all know this by now : MODERATION! I hereby give you total permission to try every single dish offered, BUT this does not give you license to pork out on each dish. Have a SMALL serving of everything. Think of having a sampler plate as opposed to a buffet opportunity. No seconds or round twos, period! Also use moderation when drinking alcohol too. Alcohol will dehydrate you, which will make you feel hungry, and secondly, it is hard to make smart food choices with a buzz.

3. My personal favorite TIP that I guarantee will work is to drink 64 oz of water BEFORE you even get to the dinner table. This will really help to fill you up. If your bladder can handle this, woah, it really works!

4. This next one is tough to do, but will hugely help you slow down and eat less. Try to put your utensils down between each bite. Literally. Take a bit and rest your fork and knife down on the plate and don’t pick them up until you are done chewing.Â

5. Lastly, try to Workout a little more intensely this week. If you normally run 3 miles a day, run 4. If you normally workout 4 days a week, do 5. You get the point. Move more. Calories in=calories out.Lastly,

If you want to feel GOOD after your Thanksgiving dinner, then follow these 5 tips and enjoy your holiday without regret!

Plus, remember what the day is really about! Don’t let food be your sole focus. Be with people you love and while you are making conscious efforts to eat better, also make a conscious effort to connect with those around you.

I have so much to be grateful for and I bet you do too!

Happy Thanksgiving!
