When is the last time you worked out? Now think… when was the last time before that? Think again…When was the third to last time you worked out?

Hopefully your last three “working outs” or anything intentionally physical have been in the last 7 days. If not, this blog is for YOU!

Lacking consistency?

Why?

Oh. no. Here. Come. The. Excuses!

We all have our “reasons” of why we don’t make it to the gym or work out enough. Trust me, as a Scottsdale personal trainer, I have heard them all.

Time. Money. Other Obligations.

Let me start by blowing some of the above “reasons” out of the water.

1. “I don’t have time”!

Can I call BS ?!?!

EVERYONE has time. I hate this excuse. In general, I hate it, but I especially dislike it when people talk about why they can’t work out. Yet, they watch movies and TV, go out to eat, sleep in,stay up too late, etc. You get the idea…

Besides, working out does not have to take long. An amazing work out can be done in 20 minutes. And remember, EVERY LITTLE BIT COUNTS! Stopping blaming the clock.

2. “I don’t have enough money!”

Gym memberships can be expensive. BUT HELLO- Haven’t you been reading my blogs? So much of what I share can be done at home with virtually no equipment needed

AND think of the ways a healthy body will save you money! Less doc visits, less needed meds even, less sick days.

If you are paying for cable or if you go out to eat just one day a week, then you CAN afford a gym membership.

People tend to be able to afford what they prioritize! Which leads me to #3.

3. ” I have other more important obligations.”

I am about to get some of you all worked up in a tizzy, but sorry guys, the truth is that taking care of your body NEEDS to be an obligation.

Honor what you have been given. Respect it. When you do this you actually free yourself and ALLOW yourself to tend to other obligations in your life with more focus and energy.

Disciplining your body in ANY form of exercise(swimming, walking the dog, hiking, lifting weights, ect.) WILL make you more successful and gratified in other areas of your life. Make it a priority.

The above excuses are the most common I hear and they are easy to counter! Trickier excuses to combat are things like lack of motivation or straight up discouragement. These at least are HONEST excuses and I can totally relate and wrap my brain around them.

Even myself, as Scottsdale personal trainer, can sometimes dread a workout. It’s normal to not be thrilled to workout everyday. Don’t beat yourself up…this doesn’t make you lazy. Maybe you haven’t found the right kind of working out.

Be adventurous and try new things. Go for a hike. Try swimming. Start a kickball league. Take dance lessons. Just MOVE in any way that is FUN for you.

AND remember how you feel AFTER a workout?!!?

Aren’t you always glad that you did it? What a rewarding feeling of accomplishment and confidence.

Habits need forming. So I challenge you to give your version of working out a try for a least 21 days in a row. Obviously you don’t want to workout intensely that many days in a row, but YES, I want you to be physically intentional that many days in a row!

Really notice how you feel after those 21 days. Notice how much easier it will be to maintain a more active lifestyle after you have practiced it and put it into motion for 21 days!

Get an accountability partner or a gym buddy. USE ME if you want. I can motivate and encourage you through texts, emails, and calls. Knowing that someone is rooting for you and is going to ASK what you did for your body everyday is HUGE!

Stay consistent. Did you know that your body begins to lose muscle tone in ten days? Yup. Muscles can start to degenerate in ten days of no activity. WHAT!!!!!!????

If anything, THAT should encourage you to not quit, or go on too long of breaks from working out.

Consistency is KEY!

Start my 21 day challenge today!
