In a rush and need something to eat on the go? Or maybe you need some energy or perhaps a mid-afternoon snack? Many people opt for protein bars, which is great IF you know the kind to buy!

Too often, protein bars are advertised as “healthy”, but if you look at the ingredients you will quickly see that many protein bars on the market are LOADED with sugar, salt and unnecessary calories.

I researched SO many protein bars, searching for the healthiest bar out there that still tastes GOOD!!! It was no easy task, but I am pleased to say that alas, I found it!

Power Crunch Bar by BNRG

Power Crunch Bars/Peanut Butter Fudge and French Vanilla Creme

This protein bar seriously tastes too yummy for words. I have had clients describe it as tasting like a Twix bar, a wafer cookie, or even a cupcake. And I agree. I just had a filling lunch so I had to restrain myself from eating one as I took the pic of above.

This protein bar is a real winner because 1) it’s like dessert, 2) it’s actually really good for you!

Let me explain why!

Power Crunch protein bars have 13-14 grams of protein and only 5 grams of sugar. Compare that to many other popular protein bars which typically have 17-30 grams of sugar, which will dramatically spike your blood sugar. The protein in it is hydrolyzed whey which is fast-absorbing, so your body can utilize the energy quicker.

Power Crunch protein bars range between 200-205 calories per bar. Much lower that many common protein bars weighing in between 250 and 400 calories.

A special thing about this bar is that it is low on the glycemic index. It uses fat as the main source of energy, as opposed to carbs, which so many other protein bars rely on. Power Crunch only has 10 grams of carbs, and 12 grams of fat! BUT LISTEN UP, it’s the GOOD fat! The fat is from palm kernel oil which is high in Omega-3 fatty acids. This kind of fat benefits your body and will fill you up much longer.

Another cool thing about this protein bar is that it is only has 100 mg per of sodium per bar. It also has a healthy amount of potassium at 115 mg. Sodium and potassium essentially balance each other out so be sure to choose foods that are higher in potassium than sodium.

This protein bar also has four percent of your daily iron needs and one gram of fiber.

I have been using this bar for awhile now and have gotten many of my clients hooked on it. I was SO HAPPY to see this protein bar highlighted in the current issue of one of the most esteemed fitness magazines out there. (On Fitness). I was thrilled to see that my research had been correct and that I had indeed found one of the healthiest and yummiest protein bar on the shelves.

You can find them at Trader Joes or Frys or buy them by the box on line. They have a couple different flavors too. So think twice about what protein bar you eat next time you need some energy or a snack. Give Power Crunch a try and let me know what YOU think it tastes lie!
