Walk or run a lot and wonder when you should get new shoes? Tips for knowing when it is time to replace your shoes:

  • Track your mileage. After 350-550 miles it’s time for a pair of new shoes. For runners/walkers who log 25 miles per week replace your shoes every three to four months. (when you buy new shoes, mark the date on the tongue of the shoe or keep a training log of your total miles walked/ran)
  • You can check for signs of wear on the sole by placing your old shoes on a table and looking at them from behind. If the soles are worn and leaning to one side, the mid-sole cushioning is probably worn as well.
  • If you are experiencing any new, abnormal joint/bone pain, shin splints, tightness/fatigue.
